Walter Payton Health and Wellness Complex
The Walter Payton Health and Wellness Complex project included the construction of an approximate 150,000 square foot sports complex to include a gymnasium, racquetball courts, ballrooms, meeting rooms, office facilities, and other various functions to be housed in the building. This project was very challenging in that it required efficient and innovative use of materials and techniques in designing the building to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the facility.
Airport Parking Project Jackson-Evers International Airport
The Jackson-Evers International Airport Parking Project included the expansion of the east parking area from 56 spaces to approximately 190 spaces, relocating existing revenue control equipment to the west employee parking area, expanding the west parking area by approximately 100 spaces, construction of a 200 space employee parking area, expanding the parking lot southward from the existing main lot by 200 spaces, constructing the cashier plaza to include new modular ticket booth and office and new area lighting, and installation of the revenue control equipment for each of the phases of the project.

The rental car facilities were relocated to the east parking area. The rental car spaces were upgraded from 56 spaces to 190 spaces. The west parking area was expanded to 300 spaces and converted from an employee parking area to a patron parking area. A new 200 car patron parking area was developed south of the existing parking area. A return loop road was constructed north of the intersection to facilitate return traffic to the terminal building and parking lot. An employee parking lot consisting of 200 spaces was constructed off-site adjacent to the east runway. The employees traveled by shuttle from the parking lot to the terminal while the parking garage was constructed.
The next phase of this project included the construction of a 1,000 car, two-level parking garage with overhead pedestrian walkways connecting the garage to the terminal, internal atriums and covered walkways with translucent roofing, stairwells, elevators, and security system with the added flexibility of the garage being expandable to a 3rd level for a total of approximately 1,500 cars. Construction of the garage was accomplished while continually maintaining safe pedestrian access through the site and to the terminal.
Overhead pedestrian walkways connecting the garage to the terminal were constructed to minimize pedestrian/vehicle conflicts at the normally busy and congested terminal drop off area. Covered walkways with translucent roofing were installed to provide airport patrons all-weather covered access from the garage to the terminal while also providing for natural lighting of the lower level.
Interior atriums were provided to give the garage an additional sense of openness, giving patrons an unexpected pleasant experience as they travel through the garage. Stairwells and elevator were strategically located to provide the most convenient access to each level and also provide 100% ADA accessibility throughout the garage.
The revenue control system was refined by requests of the Airport Authority to provide for a business reserved parking section within the garage. Security system was planned and installed to visibly control 100% of the garage and additions. Emergency call devices were placed to be in the immediate visible vicinity of patrons at all times while in the garage.
