JACKSON, Miss. – October 31, 2019, – Waggoner Engineering is pleased to announce the addition of Glenn Wetzel and Rich Hovey to the Utilities Division.
Waggoner Utilities started in 2018 and offers a full range of professional and technical capabilities to serve public and private providers throughout the utility industry.
As a senior project manager, Wetzel is responsible for managing projects from inception to final acceptance by the client and includes managing project budgets, assigning professionals, reviewing all phases of design, supervision of fabrication engineers, and overseeing the division safety plan.
“Mr. Wetzel’s leadership and experience in the power sector are second to none and have proven invaluable in helping WEI clients solve problems and add value to their operations,” said President Emad Al-Turk, P.E.
His career spans over 30 years of project engineering and management, including project development, retrofitting of capital equipment, construction management, technical field services, and plant operations and maintenance in power generation. Wetzel worked for Alabama Power for 17 years in several roles before joining Southern Company.
Wetzel holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University.
Following a 27-year career with Southern Company, Hovey joins Waggoner as a senior engineer and will be responsible for conceptual design and layout, specification preparation, cost estimating, procurement and expediting, and retrofit design.
He has over 45 years of experience in material handling, consisting of bulk material handling systems and related equipment design. This work includes conceptual planning, estimating, detailed design, machinery application optimization, system specification, and procurement.

Hovey holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla.
