Waggoner Engineering is pleased to announce the addition of Chris Jones as a GIS Technician. In his role, Jones will create, update, and maintain various GIS databases for presentations and potential projects and support design and production efforts throughout the company.
“Chris was a perfect fit for the position we were trying to fill,” said Jimmy Bradley, CFM, GISP discipline manager for GIS and asset management. “The Geospatial Program at Delta State provided the right type of practical experience along with the tools that we use every day.”
Before joining Waggoner, Jones was a geospatial technician at the Delta State University Geospatial Information Technology Center while earning his undergrad.
Projects included extracting building footprints of fire stations from imagery and capture attribute data from authoritative sources for the United States Geological Survey and update variations between the data, imagery, and well locations for the Mississippi Delta Wildlife Wells Project.
While at Delta State, Jones played on the offensive line for the Statesmen football team and named captain for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Jones holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geospatial Information Systems Analysis and Intelligence from Delta State.
