Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Veronica Porter volunteered with Samaritans Purse, a national disaster volunteer group, to help a family in Heidelberg, Mississippi, with debris clean up following the Easter weekend tornadoes.

Several volunteers were using chain saws to cut the trees into smaller pieces while the rest hauled them all to piles so they could be easily picked up by the skidder to make large burn piles. The owner also had an auto repair shop on his property, and they helped remove all the debris and remainder of the metal shop.

“Clearing out the debris and trees is the first step in recovery for a family to start to rebuild after a storm,” she said. “As a Katrina survivor myself, I have always felt great satisfaction when I can give back during times like this because I remember all those that helped me and my family during that difficult time.”
