JACKSON, Miss. – October 8, 2020 – Amir Atapour has joined Waggoner Engineering as a GIS Technician in the Jackson office, the firm announced today.
Atapour has nearly a decade of civil engineering and GIS experience, including climatology, demography and hydrology modeling, cartography, and database management.
Before Joining Waggoner, Atapour was a research assistant at Jackson State University, primarily focusing on soil stability analysis and algal blooms and wetland study using remote sensing data.
Atapour worked as a project manager and GIS specialist for Meyar Niroo and Tehran-Berkeley, based in Tehran, Iran, for nearly a decade before coming to Mississippi. He directed teams using GPS, maps, and coding, assisted with field investigations and was responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting field test data for groundwater characterization, impacts analysis, and water management.
He also served as a GIS workshop instructor for several electrical & civil engineering companies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering-Hydrology/Water Technology Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Jackson State University.
