Water and Sewer Capital Improvements Plan
Water Resources
Gautier, Mississippi
Waggoner was hired to develop a Water and Sewer Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to evaluate the condition of the City of Gautier’s water and wastewater infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements. Additionally, the project involves program management and administration support services to assist the City in implementing its infrastructure priorities through various funding strategies.
A hydraulic model of the City’s water distribution system was developed to determine the existing capacity and project future system demands based on growth patterns. The plan evaluated capacity and condition then recommended infrastructure for water and wastewater, including wells, tanks, water lines, water treatment, pump stations, collection systems, wastewater treatment, and stormwater inflow and infiltration.
50 units
of color removed from the city’s water supply
The Details
One of the city’s main goals was to identify a solution to remove the natural color that exists in the drinking water. Waggoner piloted a Nanofiltration Color Removal plant using a raw water feed from the city’s water supply. The pilot was successful in removing color from 50 units down to 0 units. Further evaluations determined the capital and operations and maintenance costs for full-scale implementation.
